Every Chimchar card

The short version

Chimchar has five printings in Pokémon TCG Pocket, across four expansions — the earliest in Space-Time Smackdown and the most recent in Promo A. It is a Basic Fire-type Pokémon with 60 HP, weak to Water, with a retreat cost of 1. They run to three rarities — three Commons, one Rare and one Shiny. The hardest to pull is the Shiny from Secluded Springs, at about 1 in 279 packs, or 1,000 Pack Points to buy outright. Nine hunts in ten end inside 643 packs, which is about 11 months at the two free packs a day the game gives you. The printings come out of the Deluxe, Secluded and Palkia packs. The most recent is Chimchar #040, from an expansion that shipped in October 2024. That printing attacks with Scratch for 20. The card’s own words: “Its fiery rear end is fueled by gas made in its belly. Even rain can’t extinguish the fire.” It has been drawn by three artists, Kagemaru Himeno more than anyone else with three cards.
