Is a crown rare rarer than an immersive card?

Usually, yes. Crown has both the lowest offering rate and the smallest pool. But the pool is what decides it: there are 33 immersive cards in the game, and in an expansion that printed only one, that single immersive can be harder to pull than a crown from a set that printed three.

Is there a pity system in Pokémon TCG Pocket?

The hardest cards to pull, whatever their rarity

Rarity and difficulty are not the same thing, and this is where they come apart. A set that printed seventy-five four-diamond cards splits one offering rate seventy-five ways, so a perfectly ordinary ex card out of a big single-rarity expansion can be harder to pull than a crown rare from a set that printed three. These are the cards that catch people out — none of them listed above, all of them genuinely difficult.

Why these are the rarest

Pokémon TCG Pocket has eleven printed rarities and only the last few are worth arguing about. The ladder runs one to four diamonds, then one to three stars, then the shiny marks, then the crown. A pack is five cards and the first three are always one diamond, so everything anybody chases has to come out of the fourth or fifth card.

That is the whole reason the top of the ladder is so thin. There are 37 crown rares in the entire game, 33 immersive cards and 96 double shinies — 166 cards out of 3,879. Every one of them is competing for the same two slots against a few hundred commons.

Crown sits at the top because it is both the smallest pool and the lowest offering rate. Immersive is next, and it is the one people underrate: three cards in a main expansion share a rate that a dozen cards share at other rarities, so a specific immersive is harder to get than the number on the tin suggests.

Rarity odds are not card odds

This is where every other list stops, and it is the part that matters. The game publishes an offering rate per rarity, not per card. When a page tells you a crown rare is 0.04% of the fourth slot, that is the chance of pulling *a* crown rare — any of them.

The chance of pulling *the one you want* is that rate divided by how many cards share the rarity in that expansion. Nobody publishes that second number because it needs the database: you have to count the pool set by set. We have the pool, so we divide, which is why every card on this page carries its own figure rather than its rarity's.

It changes the answer more than you would expect. A set with three crown rares splits its rate three ways; a set with one does not split it at all. Two cards at the same rarity, printed a few months apart, can differ by a factor of three — and the ranking below is sorted by that real number, not by the symbol in the corner.

What the rarest card actually costs you

Take the hardest card on the list. At 1 in 1,448 packs, you would need about 3,333 packs to be ninety per cent sure of seeing it — 4.6 years at 2 free packs a day, opening every single one.

There is no pity timer. Packs do not remember each other, so a hundred bad ones do not make the hundred and first any better. The only guarantee in the game is the Pack Point exchange: five points a pack, 2,500 points for a crown rare, which works out at 500 packs opened before you can simply buy one.

That is the honest shape of it. Chasing the rarest card in Pokémon TCG Pocket is a year of free packs or a decision to spend, and the arithmetic is the same for everybody.
