Every Kakuna card

The short version

Kakuna has five printings in Pokémon TCG Pocket, across three expansions — the earliest in Genetic Apex and the most recent in Deluxe Pack: ex. It is a Stage 1 Grass-type Pokémon with 80 HP, weak to Fire, with a retreat cost of 2. They run to three rarities — one Common, three Uncommons and one Shiny. The hardest to pull is the Shiny from Shining Revelry, at about 1 in 279 packs, or 1,000 Pack Points to buy outright. Nine hunts in ten end inside 643 packs, which is about 11 months at the two free packs a day the game gives you. The printings come out of the Deluxe, Shining and Mewtwo packs. The most recent is Kakuna #008, from an expansion that shipped in September 2025. That printing attacks with String Shot for 20. The card’s own words: “Almost incapable of moving, this Pokémon can only harden its shell to protect itself when it is in danger.” It has been drawn by three artists, Yuka Morii more than anyone else with three cards.
