Every Wartortle card

The short version

Wartortle has five printings in Pokémon TCG Pocket, across four expansions — the earliest in Genetic Apex and the most recent in Crimson Blaze. It is a Stage 1 Water-type Pokémon printed at between 80 and 90 HP, weak to Lightning, with a retreat cost of 2. They run to two rarities — four Uncommons and one Shiny. The hardest to pull is the Shiny from Celestial Guardians, at about 1 in 559 packs, or 1,000 Pack Points to buy outright. Nine hunts in ten end inside 1,285 packs, which is about 1.8 years at the two free packs a day the game gives you. The printings come out of the Crimson Blaze, Deluxe, Lunala and Pikachu packs. The most recent is Wartortle #018, from an expansion that shipped in December 2025. That printing carries the ability Shell Shield and attacks with Waterfall for 60. The card’s own words: “It cleverly controls its furry ears and tail to maintain its balance while swimming.” It has been drawn by three artists, Nelnal more than anyone else with three cards.
