Two free packs a day is the base rate. Daily missions hand out hourglasses on top, so an active player gets there sooner than the figures above.

Skipping the wait by buying 42 packs with Poké Gold would cost about $35.

There is a guaranteed way

Every pack gives 5 Pack Points, and 270 packs is enough to simply buy a double shiny card outright. That is more packs than the 42 a coin flip needs — but it always works, and luck does not.

That is a short wait. You do not need to buy anything for this one — open your free packs and you will get there. Guides that speed it up

How this is worked out

Every pack has five cards. The first three are always the most common kind, so only the last two can surprise you. Those two are rolled separately, which is why your real chance is a little better than any single slot suggests.

One pack in two thousand is a Rare Pack, where all five cards are good ones. That is rare enough to ignore day to day, but over hundreds of packs it matters, so it is included here.

“Half of players get one by” is the point where fifty out of a hundred people have finally seen one. It is not a promise. Half of players are still waiting past it, and the unluckiest tenth wait more than three times as long. That gap is the part everyone underestimates.

Free packs come at 2 a day, and that is the floor rather than the average — daily missions hand out hourglasses that shorten the timer, so an active player opens more than that. Buying a pack outright costs 6 Poké Gold. Every pack also gives 5 Pack Points, and enough points buys any card you choose — the slow route that always works.

Odds tell you how long. The card list tells you what you are waiting for — every card in the game, ranked by its real chance per pack, worst first.

Rates come from the game’s Offering Rates screen, checked on 2026-08-23. Rare Pack figures are from Everyday Wonders; that part of the table is built from each set’s own card list, so it shifts a little between expansions.
